Benefits of membership:

  • You belong to a group of like minded individuals who support our desire to promote fellowship amongst our members.
  • You may participate in supporting our historic clubhouse
  • You get a $.50 per drink discount at the bar
  • You may use our clubhouse for your private parties of more than 10 people (rules apply)
  • You may host up to 10 guests  in our clubhouse during normal operating hours anytime
  • You may participate in the management (if you wish) of our club.
  • We are an affiliate of the National Press Club in Washington DC.  Members enjoy complimentary use of many other Press Club facilities nation wide.
  • It’s a great place to entertain business associates and friends.

  • When you’re wondering where to go/what to do, we are the answer.

What are we:

  • We are a member owned, managed, and supported private club, a not for profit corporation.
  • Our membership includes Social members, Professional Press (actively involved in news gathering and dissemination) members, and Associate Press (a support role like advertising attached to the press).  
  • We own our historic clubhouse building. 
  • We have a sister corporation that is dedicated to maintaining and renovating our historic clubhouse.  This corporation (The Whittlesey House Preservation Foundation) may take tax deductible donations dedicated to the maintenance and renovation of the Whittlesey House.


How to join:

  • You must be sponsored by a member.  If you are a guest, talk to your host, or talk to the bartender on duty.  You pay first years dues and a small initiation fee  (see application).
  • Your completed application must be accompanied by a check if application is submitted by mail, or, if submitted at the bar, by a check or a credit card.
  • The board of directors meets monthly.  On of the responsibilities of the board is to consider applicants for membership.  You are approved unless there are three board members who feel you are not  appropriate for our club and vote no (a rare occurrence).  The board will determine if the classification you applied for is appropriate (see back of application)


Commitment:

  • You join for one year.  You renew in one year increments.  If you find that you don’t wish to continue your membership, you have no obligation to renew.
  • You may get involved in the many facets of managing and operating our club if you wish.
